Can you plan my days for me?

Yes, and many guests ask us to. Tell us who is travelling, what interests you and how much time you have, and our Guest Experience Team can suggest a shape for the stay before you arrive. We deliberately do not treat that plan as a timetable that cannot change. Wildlife, weather and how you feel on the day matter. Your guide and lodge team can adapt the detail as the stay unfolds.

Is Oase suitable for a honeymoon?

Yes. Oase is particularly well suited to honeymoons because privacy and flexibility are already built into the way the lodge works. Couples can combine safari with private dining, spa treatments, the Treetop Sleepout, picnics, wine and gin experiences and, if desired, more elaborate experiences such as a helicopter outing. We can build the stay around the balance of adventure and downtime you want.

Can children come on safari?

Yes. Children are genuinely welcome at Oase and we do not apply a blanket minimum age to the stay or to most lodge experiences. Participation in a particular wildlife activity is always based on the child's age and maturity, current wildlife and conditions, and the guide's safety judgement. That lets us make sensible decisions around the child in front of us rather than relying only on a rigid age rule.

What activities can I do at Oase?

A stay can include guided bush walks, leopard tracking, night drives, cycling, fishing, bush cooking, birding, bush picnics, wine and gin tastings, Cinema Oase, gym time and other experiences around the reserve. There are also off-property experiences such as Blyde Dam boat trips, helicopter experiences and regional tours. Many activities can be arranged during the stay, subject to weather, safety and availability.

The Big 5 are lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and African buffalo. The term originally came from the hunting era and referred to five animals considered particularly difficult and dangerous to hunt on foot. Today it is used very differently: as familiar shorthand for five of Africa's most iconic safari animals. They are extraordinary animals, but they are not a measure of whether a safari was good. Africa becomes much more interesting once you start noticing everything beyond five species.

Are Kruger National Park safaris included in my rate?

When you book Oase directly on an All-Inclusive rate, shared full-day Kruger National Park safaris are included in your stay. Private Kruger safaris can also be arranged for guests who prefer a private vehicle and are charged separately. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but the full-day format gives us time to explore rather than rush from one sighting to the next.

Safari can be much more than a morning drive, an afternoon drive and the hours in between. These four films follow four days at Oase — exploring Kruger, the Blyde River Canyon, tracking leopard on foot and discovering some of the experiences that make this part of Africa so extraordinary.

One of the reasons Oase exists where it does is the freedom it gives you to experience more of the Greater Kruger.

Kruger National Park is within easy reach. The Blyde River Canyon and Drakensberg escarpment are nearby. And back at Oase, 530 hectares of private reserve give us the freedom to walk, track, explore and spend time in the bush differently.

These four days are not an itinerary everyone follows. They are simply an example of what becomes possible when your safari is not built around doing the same thing twice a day.

The canyon beyond the bush

Begin beyond the reserve.

The first day heads out into the landscape surrounding Oase, with a visit to Jessica the Hippo followed by time on the water in the spectacular Blyde River Canyon.

It is a very different introduction to the Greater Kruger — and a reminder that some of the region's most memorable experiences happen away from a game-viewer.

A full day in Kruger

Today belongs to Kruger.

Leave early for a full day inside one of Africa's great national parks, allowing enough time to explore rather than racing back to the lodge between drives.

Leopard, elephant and an extraordinary variety of wildlife make an appearance along the way. But, as always in Kruger, what you find — and where the day takes you — is never entirely predictable.

On the trail

Day Three starts on foot.

Head into the reserve with Fanny to read the signs left overnight and track leopard through the bush. It is slower, quieter and far more immersive than simply searching from a vehicle.

After breakfast, the day changes pace completely with a horse-riding adventure before returning to Oase for a night above the bush at the Treetop Sleepout.

One last adventure

The final day is another reminder that a stay here does not have to follow the traditional safari routine.

Spend time with elephants before swapping four legs for four wheels on a quad-bike adventure through the Lowveld.

It is a fitting end to four days that have moved between wildlife, wilderness, water, walking and adventure — without ever needing every day to look the same.
